The 2007 Emily Couric Lecture was delivered by Dr. Peter A. Banks, Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Director of the Center for Pancreatic Disease at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. David Johnson, Immediate Past-President of the ACG, presents Dr. Banks with the Emily Couric Lecture plaque
Dr. Johnson was instrumental in assisting VA State Sen. Emily Couric in her successful legislative effort to mandate insurance coverage for colon cancer screening. Sadly, she lost her life to pancreatic cancer in 2001, one year after the bill's passage.
